I’ve studiously avoided hard exercise since P.E. in Fifth Form. While others turn their determination to marathons and similar, I’ve saved my effort for sensible things like pursuing Fruit Creme Quality Streets when they’re in season or seeing how many back-to-back episodes of ER I can manage in one sitting. OK, so I’ve played around with the odd half-hearted jog and occasionally lifting the three-kilogram dumbbells by my bed - but why go running when you’re not being chased and, crucially, you could be at home reading a good, juicy novel or looking at upcycled tea caddies on Pinterest?
Was the last time you went to bed with the sunset about ten years ago?
Was your phone the last thing you looked at before bed last night? Was your phone the first thing you squinted at this morning - and was it 'because of your alarm'? Don't forget to check the Year Abroad Blog portion of my website for regular updates: you can find the latest instalment, in which I'm told off for reading and mildly injured by children, by clicking here.
You can also see snaps from my year abroad by following me on Instagram! A quick update to introduce a new portion of my website - this Northerner really will be misplaced as I start a six month stint au-pairing in West Germany! I'll be blogging monthly (at the very least) about my experiences in childcare, living abroad, delving deeper into German literature, and sampling every ice cream parlour in the entire Rheinland-Pfalz (a tough job but someone needs to do it.)
Navigate to the new Year Abroad Blog section in the site menu (or click the link here) and be sure to like my Facebook page to never miss a post! This month's blog post follows on from March's 'All Souls Tour' and the promise of an announcement relating to the upcoming convention in New Orleans - and it all started with an oil painting.
Poor Oxford students, with our short terms and lovely long holidays – we don’t get to celebrate Christmas together! Never ones to miss an opportunity to party, we’ve come up with a way around it: Oxmas.
